How Football Fixtures Work
A fixture is a scheduled match between two teams in a competition. Leagues publish fixture lists before each season, but dates and kick-off times often change later for broadcasting, cup commitments, international breaks or weather.

What a fixture contains
| Field | Example of what it tells you |
|---|---|
| Date | The day the match is scheduled |
| Competition and round | League matchweek, cup round or tournament stage |
| Home team / away team | Who hosts and who travels. The home team is listed first. |
| Venue | The stadium where the match is played |
| Kick-off time | Shown in Malaysia Time (MYT) on Score8 |
| Status | Scheduled, postponed, to be confirmed and so on |
How fixture lists are made
Leagues produce a full-season fixture list before the season starts. Scheduling software balances many constraints: home and away sequences, clubs that share stadiums or cities, stadium availability, security advice and the dates reserved for cups and international matches. The list is organised into matchweeks (also called matchdays or gameweeks), each a round of fixtures.
Why fixtures change
- Broadcasting: matches are moved to different days or times for live coverage, usually announced weeks in advance.
- Cup and continental commitments: clubs still in other competitions may need league matches rearranged.
- International breaks: club football pauses so players can join national teams.
- Weather and safety: heavy rain, waterlogged pitches or safety concerns can force a postponement.

Kick-off times in Malaysia
Score8 shows kick-off times in Malaysia Time (MYT, UTC+8), which has no daylight saving. European matches therefore often kick off late at night or early in the morning in Malaysia, and the local date may be a day later than in Europe.
